v1.14.0 — Ready-made React components for your blog, changelog, help center and roadmap

1.14.0New featureDenis Povarov

Until now Kookee gave you the content and left the markup to you. @kookee/react now ships the markup too: ready-made components for the pages every product builds around itself, which you can use as they are or restyle down to the last element.

What's included

  • Blog: post lists with covers, authors and tags, a tag filter with post counts, and the post page.

  • Changelog: entry lists with type badges and versions, a filter by release type, the entry page, and a "What's new" badge that counts the entries a visitor has not seen yet.

  • Help center: the category grid, category navigation and headers, article lists, breadcrumbs, the article page, search as you type, and a "Was this article helpful?" vote.

  • Roadmap: a read-only board of your feedback columns, with each card linking to your portal, where visitors vote.

  • For every entry: the entry body, a table of contents that follows the reader, numbered pagination and emoji reactions.

  • While content loads: skeletons for every list, in the list's own layout.

Rendered on the server

The components take the data you fetched with @kookee/sdk as props, so they render on the server: in Next.js Server Components, with data from TanStack Start loaders, in any framework that renders React on the server, and in a single-page app alongside the hooks. Only five pieces need the browser, and they have their own /client import paths: reactions, the helpful vote, the tracked table of contents, the what's-new badge and help search.

Filters and pagination are plain links, so they work before any JavaScript loads, and every filtered view has its own address.

Yours to style

One optional stylesheet, themed with CSS variables and ready for dark mode. Beyond it, every element has a class, every state a data-* attribute, and every text a label you can translate. Swap in your router's links and your image component, rebuild any item from the exported parts, or keep only the behaviour through a headless hook and write the markup yourself.

To start, update @kookee/react and @kookee/sdk and read React components for your blog, changelog and help center in the help center. Kookee's own blog, changelog, help center and roadmap are built with them.

Also in this release

  • The hosted portal is rebuilt on the same components. Changelog type filters are now real links, so they work before the page's JavaScript loads and open in a new tab, and a roadmap card opens at its own address, so a link to it opens that post.

  • Search on the feedback board and the roadmap highlights the words that matched.

  • Help center pages on phones no longer fail to hydrate, which made the browser rebuild the page after it had loaded.

  • Code blocks on help articles and custom pages use a dark surface with readable text, and inline code in the dashboard's help panel no longer shows stray backticks.

  • Portal help search no longer shows a loading state forever when it is opened without a query.

  • API: an entry whose body was never written now returns an empty contentHtml instead of null, matching the SDK's types.
