v1.14.1 — The portal's finishing touches, now in the React components

1.14.1New featureDenis Povarov

Kookee's portal is built on @kookee/react, but a few of its features were written on top of the package rather than inside it. They are in the package now, so your own pages can have them too. Every addition is opt-in: without the new props, the components render exactly as they did.

Blog

A blog list with its tag filter collapsed after ten tags behind a Show 2 more button, and posts without a cover keeping a striped cover placeholder

  • A long tag list collapses. BlogTagFilter takes limit, expanded and toggle to show the first tags and hide the rest behind a "Show more" button. The hidden tags stay in the page's HTML, so search engines still follow every tag link, and the tag a visitor is filtering by is never hidden.

  • Posts without a cover keep their shape. Pass coverPlaceholder to BlogPostList or BlogPostCard and a post with no cover image gets an empty cover box of your design, so every card in the grid lines up.

Changelog and help center

  • showAuthor adds the author's avatar and name to a changelog entry's header; ChangelogAuthor is the same part on its own.

  • HelpArticleViews shows an article's view count, and showCategory prints each article's category above its title on article cards and in search results.

  • BlogPost, ChangelogArticle and HelpArticle take headerClassNames, to style the header's title, date and meta without rebuilding the header.

Roadmap

A roadmap filtered to the feature category and searched for dashboard: each card marks the matches, and its text starts a few words before the first one

  • RoadmapCategoryFilter links each category, like the changelog's type filter, so a filtered roadmap has its own address.

  • highlight marks a search in the roadmap cards and cuts each card's text to start just before the first match. Highlight and snippetAround, from @kookee/react/entry, do the same in markup of your own.

Also in this release

  • Search excerpts on the portal's roadmap and feedback board start a few whole words before the first match, instead of 60 characters before it and often in the middle of a word, so the match is on the card's first line rather than cut off by it. Your Search Highlighting Probably Hides the Match tells the story.

  • The portal's roadmap category filter keeps the search you typed when you switch categories.

  • Files a teammate uploads to a project count toward the project owner's storage, as the plans describe. A teammate who reaches the owner's limit is asked to contact the owner instead of being told to upgrade, and the usage card on the project overview says which numbers reset monthly.

  • Public tag and category counts include only published, public entries, not drafts.

  • Security: an entry can use only its own project's categories, tags, parent entry and translation group.

To update, install @kookee/react and @kookee/sdk 1.9.4. The React articles in the help center cover every addition; start with React components for your blog, changelog and help center.
